Nach dem Untergang des Jurassic World-Themenparks auf der Isla Nublar streifen die Dinosaurier vier Jahre lang frei auf der Insel umher, bis ein drohender Vulkanausbruch ihr Aussterben droht. Claire Dearing, die ehemalige Parkmanagerin, hat jetzt die Dinosaur Protection Group gegründet, eine Organisation, die sich der Rettung der Dinosaurier widmet. Sie rekrutiert Owen Grady, einen ehemaligen Dinosauriertrainer, der im Park arbeitete, um ihr bei der Rettung der verbleibenden Dinosaurier von der Insel zu helfen. Owen versucht auch, Blue zu finden, den letzten verbliebenen der vier Raubvögel, die er trainiert hat, doch er und Claire erfahren von einer Verschwörung, die dazu führen könnte, dass Dinosaurier wieder zu den dominierenden Tieren der Erde werden.
